Artist Statement

Working with clay offers me a three dimensional freedom in design capability. The direction of my work covers many aspects of style. Including: Art Deco, Art Nuevo, Contemporary and Traditional. The inspiration of my tile usually starts with an observation of nature, or from my surrounding environment.

BonTon (French for "Fashionable and/or elegant in manner or style. Something regarded as fashionably correct.) was created to design and manufacture artistic handmade tile by old world methods. I custom create one of a kind artistic tile for commercial and residential applications. Though I work quite deliberately, employing both traditional and innovative techniques, my unconscious is no doubt my compass.

I am a self-taught ceramics artist and have designed many of my own glaze blends and firing techniques. I take a "no boundaries" approach to the handmade tile business. As I always say, "If you can dream it, I can make it". My goal as an artist is to create beautiful handmade tile that enhances the space it occupies.
